Just two days late, Gus arrived in our arms at about 3:30 am on May 31st, Monday. We went to the delivery area around 10:30 pm on Sunday night after laboring most of the day at home by ourselves and with our amazing doula, Susan Daniels.
Missy was a champ through labor, with a completely natural childbirth, as we had planned for and hoped. Gus came out fast, with the nurses yelling out to the hallway for the doc to run in at the last second, and he’s doing great.
8 lbs, 11 3/4 oz. Slept through his circumcision today (yes, amazing…how do you sleep through that), and as the nurses have all told us, has been major Mr. Sleepy head all day.
Missy is recovering amazingly well, and looks so beautiful and so happy. My parents are here and are 110% elated, and Missy’s mom arrives Thursday. We’ll be in the hospital through tomorrow, Wednesday and will head home on that morning to take Gus on a tour of his new home. Couldn’t feel any better (though a little more sleep would be nice). I’m looking at Gus sleeping now on Missy’s chest…he’s a cutie (well of course his proud papa thinks that).
Thanks to a nice visit by two students of mine yesterday, and to Mike, Rachelle and Mila, our neighbors down the street. They’re off on a cross country trip for the rest of the summer, so it was nice that Gus arrived just in time to meet them.

Absolutely beautiful! I got so teary-eyed looking through these priceless photos — such warmth, love and beauty! Props to Missy for doing a natural delivery and for allowing you to take pictures AND video, haha. I couldn’t be happier for you and your healthy family
Josh & Missy Congratulations .……Its an incredible experience. Beautiful baby with beautiful parents.… Wonderful photos. steve
Josh, Missy and Gus,
Thanks for sharing this special moment. The photos are wonderful. And Josh you are right, Miss does look beautiful. I love the photos of her and Gus. They look so happy together. Enjoy this time, because it does go by so fast. (and sleep when Gus sleeps!)
Seems like a good time for a frosty PBR.
Congrats!
Wow you guys..you did it! Welcome to world of kids! It’s a wild ride. Boys rock! Thanks for sharing the entire delivery…wow…you made it look so easy! At least easier than our adoptions! Can’t wait to see you guys! Much love to all. We’re so happy for you. Now, you have a Southern son…born in Kentucky! Maybe he’ll like grits! Enjoy! Love ya, Steph
We are thrilled for you and your families! Enjoy this amazing moment in your lives…lucky baby, lucky parents!
Congratulations, Josh and Missy, and welcome, Gus! Parenthood is a journey that only gets more amazing. Gus is adorable and both of you look so radiant and healthy. I’m so happy that the labor and delivery went well. Kudos on the natural delivery, too.
Love that Gus has a blog already! I bet he will be the most photographed baby in BG. ; ) It’s wonderful that you have this documentation of his first moments, because the next few months will probably be a blur. We would love to come visit and bring you anything you need.
Love,
Sara, Tom & boys
Congrats, Josh and Missy, and welcome, Gus! You all look great! We’re so happy for you. Missy is a WARRIOR!
Enjoy the sleepy first 24–48 hours. It’s often followed by the awake-all-night-crying next couple of days. But it’s all worth it.
Get ready for the greatest love of your life. All the best to you.
YES!!!! You guys look so happy (and maybe a bit tired). The tired goes away in a few months but the happy part just grows and grows. The ride of your life! Congrats to all three of you. Oh yeah, nice photos, too.
GO GUS!!!
lots o love

Welcome to parenthood, so excited for you guys!
They grow fast, enjoy every moment of it!

Too cute! What I learned: These are the days that you can still take a baby to the movies, b/c they’ll just sleep or nurse. So go while you can!
Enjoy everything. Newborns are precious. Love you all!
