Festival de los tres Reyes
My very good friend José Hernandez Claire and his son Leo invited us to join him at the Festival de los tres Reyes in Cajititlan, Jalisco, where thousands of people come each January for the religious holiday. Of course because it’s Mexico the holiday is a festival of wonderful food, freak shows and music. Was […]
Bruno’s 90th Birthday Party
Missy’s grandparents Bruno and Louise Ollie celebrated their 90th birthdays this year, so the Ollie clan from Idaho/Wyoming and the Warps came together for a big bash. Gus got some bare tush time at the lake and everyone was well fed. A few pictures also from swimming in Lake Superior and Gus takes to the […]
April May June 2011
Time has flown by and no new pictures, so here are the last three months worth, and only from iPhone as it’s all I have access to at the moment.
Around the house
Gus has learned to fear the vacuum cleaner and love his high chair. He’s moved on from the baby bathtub and is now splashing freely in the big tub and is climbing all about. Has made it to the second stair (trouble) and loves to pull books off the shelf (not reading them yet though). […]
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
We’re back in the upper Midwest for a long weekend to celebrate the wedding of my good college buddy Josh “Strutter” Gordon in Chicago. Only a few hours north is Milwaukee, or actually Pewaukee where Missy’s sister Kim and her family lives, so we made a bit extra drive to see them for a few […]
Gus the Musician
Gus is on the verge of crawling, and each day teaches us something new about parenting. Third tooth is poking through.…just a few photos from the past few weeks on the iPhone. New big-boy car seat, jumping, bathing, grocery shopping…all the familiar baby stuff.
Josephine DeMatteo 1922–2011
Just a few months after my Grandfather Sam passed away, my grandmother followed him this week. After a good fight against Alzheimers, she went peacefully with family surrounding her and hospice care keeping her comfortable. We were all having a nice meal together, which is exactly what she would have wished for us. She taught […]
Cross Country Skiing w/Gus
So today we took a day trip to Duluth, MN to see some friends and decided to take advantage of the great snow and warmish weather (almost 30 degrees) and try taking Gus in a backpack loaned to us. Gus took to it like a champ, and bundled up in his new snow suit, enjoyed […]
Gus Meets Snow
Sandi and John bought Gus his first two snow apparati this week here in Minnesota. 1. A snow suit, and 2. a sled. So we put them together for a little jaunt in the yard. Gus seemed mildly amused, but no complaints. Hoping he’ll be ready for cross country skis next winter. The end result […]
Fall 2010 — Busy Times
It’s been a busy fall with school back up and running, not enough sleep and raising Gus to be a good boy. He’s super fun, and has started laughing hysterically…like his mama. Check out the Audioboos below to hear some of that laughter. We’ve seen the doc twice for shots (oh the screaming) and had […]
Back in Kentucky
After a wonderful summer on the road with Gus to Minnesota, Virginia and North Carolina we arrived back in BG just 10 days before school starts now in a week. Busy getting back into the swing of things and getting Gus adjusted to his day care at the Montessori school. He’s doing well, so his […]
On the Road With Gus
From our quick stop over in Bowling Green, we were on the road, first to Roanoke to attend Pete and Angie’s wedding in Big Island, VA…an excellent time! And then headed south for a quick visit with the Meltzers again in Asheville, NC on Flat Top Mountain, a nice 80 degrees at 4250 feet above […]
Short Stop in Kentucky
From a great three weeks in N. Minnesota with the Warps, we hit the road south to Bowling Green for a few days, where my folks visited us. It was a great chance for them to see Gus who had grown a lot since his birth days. They were a big help to us as […]
Summer in Minnesota
We’ve been spending a few weeks with the Warps in Moose Lake this summer, enjoying the cooler weather, family (with lots of kids) and the lake 25 yards from the Warp back door. Gus took his first dip in the lake, wearing his new swimsuit courtesy of his Meltzer grandparents, and has been cuddled by […]
Diptychs Then and Now
As I’ve been photographing Gus these first few weeks of his life, I’ve noticed many similarities in images I made of Missy during her pregnancy so I began looking though images from then and pairing them with new pictures from the past few weeks. Some are paired because of location or mood, others because of […]
Gus Benjamin Warp Meltzer
Just two days late, Gus arrived in our arms at about 3:30 am on May 31st, Monday. We went to the delivery area around 10:30 pm on Sunday night after laboring most of the day at home by ourselves and with our amazing doula, Susan Daniels. Missy was a champ through labor, with a completely […]
Waitin’ on the arrival of Meltzarp
So, while we’re in the waiting mode for Meltzarp, and since we’ve had an entire refrigerator shelf of expired Polaroid 4x5 55 film, we headed on to the school studio and used the Speed Graphics for a few hours. Was fun, and now we just keep waiting. Should be here any week/day now.
WKU" href="http://joshmeltzer.com/blog/2010/05/02/baby-shower-wku/" rel="bookmark">Baby Shower, WKU
Missy and my co-workers at WKU were super nice in throwing a small but intimate baby shower. Lovely gifts including a Hilltopper onesy. One more month, now to go.
Visit with the Warps Extended
After judging and speaking at the Minnesota News Photographers Association in Minneapolis, I had the opportunity to spend the night with Missy’s Aunt Nancy and see her extended family, eat some good ‘Sotan food and see the nephews and niece. Good times.
